Customer Relations


The Customer Relations team works on technology initiatives with university partners from many campus units, the Office of the CIO, and Information and Technology Services. Our focus is on building relationships and effective communications that enable the university to better leverage information and technology in support of our diverse missions. We have regular connections with leadership, IT, and other members of campus units to address:

  • What's new and changing with campus IT services and projects, as well as with units' academic and administrative activities?

  • What's important for campus units, and how can technology help address near-term challenges as well as support longer-term strategic goals?

  • How are the CIO and ITS doing in meeting the needs of the units with our current and planned IT services?

We work to understand the needs, challenges, and concerns of campus and to produce better outcomes. We do this by:

  • Ensuring the CIO and ITS hear campus feedback — the feedback needed to make good decisions and service improvements that align with the needs of campus.

  • Providing transparency — sharing data and reports on quality of university IT services, and collecting information on units' experience with IT services to build a balanced view.

  • Making connections — identifying IT services that meet the needs of a particular situation; bringing the right folks from ITS together to address a complex issue; and bringing together colleagues from across the Michigan IT community who can collaborate on challenges that they share.

  • Advocating for the needs of the campus community — whether that involves a near-term stretch to make a particular IT service work for a campus unit, or discovering and articulating the long-term trends across campus that should shape IT services and strategy in the coming years.
